“Frame Friday” Roundup: Get Ready for Cold

  • BY Dave Schreiner

January is, on average, the coldest month of the year in the northern hemisphere. Not only are there more cold days that are colder than in other months, but the days themselves are shorter, some of the shortest all year. One of the best ways to get through the colder months, short of hopping a plane to somewhere tropical, is with the right new pair of colorful glasses.

Obviously, glasses can’t change the temperature. But they can heat things up in other ways. While you’re donating blood – January is also Blood Donors’ month – or getting to work on your New Year’s Resolutions – a great start is essential to sticking with it, although you probably need some commitment as well – you could do worse than to throw a splash of color on your face to help get you moving in the morning.

They say seasonal depression, more correctly and informatively called “seasonal affective disorder,” is typically caused by shorter days throwing off your circadian rhythm and a drop in serotonin and melatonin, both the result of not enough sunlight. Although more color on your face and in your life won’t actually make it sunnier, it might just give you that extra bit of energy so your disposition becomes so. In other words, “fake it ’till you make it.”

Fun, playful, dynamic, affordable glasses like these aren’t the answer to everything during the longest, coldest month of the year; far from it. But they are fun, playful, dynamic, and affordable. Who knows what you’ll be able to do to thwart the cold of January when your glasses feature cool pastels, cutting edge aesthetics, and a great fit at a price you can’t help but love. Zenni sure doesn’t, but we’d like to think you’ll come up with something.
